Congressional Medal Of Honor Recipients
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has the second largest number of Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients from across the United States. Out of a total 3,458 Medal of Honor recipients, fifteen of these recipients were with ties to our county of Washington, Pennsylvania. Currently, there are 143 living recipients. A bronze plaque dedicated to our Washington County men was unveiled at the Tourist Promotion Agency on the Veterans' Walkway last June 15, 2002. We are indebted to Mr. Ed Snarey, Chairman of the Medal of Honor Plaque Dedication Committee, for his zealous efforts in researching and bringing to fruition this recognition so deserved by our devoted servicemen.
